Color me Kubrick

JOHN MALKOVICH stars as Alan Conway, a perfect stranger, who passed himself off as one of the greatest film directors of all time, Stanley Kubrick. Conway is brought uproariously to life by John Malkovich in a jaw-dropping tour de force, in which he stops at nothing in depicting Conway's shameless character, whether cadging a few quid for cab fare, or pulling off more outrageous scams

O poveste foarte interesanta si true..ish:)) Malkovich joaca ..impecabil. Am ras.

Home of the brave

Sad..but such a great movie..

Milk

Academy Award nominee Gus Van Sant directs Academy Award winner Sean Penn as gay-rights icon Harvey Milk. Mr. Milk (1930-1978) was an activist and politician, and the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America; in 1977, he was voted to the city supervisors' board of San Francisco. The following year, both he and the city's mayor George Moscone were shot to death by another city supervisor, Dan White. Mr. Milk was previously the subject of the Academy Award-winning documentary feature "The Times of Harvey Milk," but "Milk" is the first non-documentary feature to explore the man's life and career.

Che - part one

Che (film)

Che is a 2008 biopic about Marxist revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Benicio del Toro as Che. The film is actually a merged version of two films by Soderbergh: The Argentine and Guerrilla. The first part focuses on the Cuban revolution, from the moment Fidel Castro, Guevara and other revolutionaries landed on the Caribbean island, until they toppled the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista two years later. The second part focuses on Che's attempted revolution and eventual demise in Bolivia.

Che was screened on May 21 at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival running over four hours. Del Toro won the Best Actor Award at the festival for his portrayal of Guevara in the film. IFC Films has acquired all North American rights to Che and will release it for one week on December 12, 2008 in New York City and Los Angeles in December in order to qualify for the Academy Awards. The film will re-open on January 9, 2009 in these two cities as two separate films, titled Che Part 1: The Argentine and Che Part 2: Guerrilla. The films will then be released in 25 markets beginning January 16 and 22 and will expand further after that. IFC will make the films available Video on demand on January 21 on all major cable and satellite providers in both standard and high definition versions.

Beautiful thing

well..my gay moment is gone so i don't/can't see this film:( I stoped in the middle, when I realised that they will fall in love..but it is a nice movie..not for me, but nice.

This tender story of two teenager's sexual coming of age in a working-class development in London is an inspiring, tender, emotional tale. Jamie is a reserved teen, close to his pub manager mom, who prefers old Hollywood musicals to sports. His friendship with his hunky neighbor Ste, a fellow student who suffers through a troubled family life, soon develops into a sexual and eventually a loving relationship. How the two boys tentatively handle their nascent sexual drives and how it affects their family and friends is handled in both a fresh and surprisingly upbeat fashion. A wonderful comedy-drama and possibly the best coming out film to date.

Die Welle

THE WAVE is based on a real event from a Californian high school in 1967 and transposed to Germany today. A cautionary tale about the roots of fascism. The film opens in a rush of energy with charismatic teacher Rainer Wegner beginning a week long class on autocracy. To indifferent students, its a hard sell, but Wegner gets an idea for an experiment: as their leader he asks the students to call him Mr Wegner, chooses the motto strength through discipline, creates a logo, decides that everyone wears a white shirt, and names the group, The Wave adding a secret sign reminiscent of a Nazi salute. Much to their surprise the students find that they like the power of unity and soon this new found discipline spills over to other school activities and newcomers join the group. The Wave gives the kids something to believe in for a change, until they go too far and The Wave spins out of control

German Movie based on the book by Morton Rhue. With Jürgen Vogel, Max Riemelt, Elyas M'Barek, Jenifer Ulrich and Christiane Paul
