Date of Death
22 January 2008, Manhattan, New York, USA

28 ani. Posibila cauza a mortii: drug related. Cata coca poti sa bagi in tine?
Asta a facut pana acum:

Si ma intreb necajita: cum sa mori frate la 28 de ani?? M-am enervat..Rau. Si imi pare si mai rau.
Heath Ledger, whose chiseled good looks made him a heartthrob to millions and who won movie fame for playing a tragic homosexual cowboy, was found dead in a Manhattan apartment today, police said. The body of the Australian actor, who won an Academy Award nomination for the 2005 movie "Brokeback Mountain," was found hours after this year's Oscar picks were announced.Ledger, 28, was found unconscious at 3:26 p.m. and pronounced dead minutes later by emergency medical personnel, said Det. Madelyne Galindo, a spokeswoman for the New York Police Department.
NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger's body was discovered in the bedroom of his residence by his housekeeper and a masseuse who had an appointment with the actor at 3 p.m.Contrary to early reports, the apartment where he was found does not belong to Mary-Kate Olsen, Browne said. The spokesman also said that preliminary reports that pills were found scattered around Ledger's body were also inaccurate.Police did find prescription sleeping pills in a container in the bedroom and other pills in containers in the bathroom, but Browne said it was too early to establish a cause of death."We haven't made any determination," he said, though he added that there were no indications of foul play.
Minutes after the news of Ledger's death broke, a crowd of several hundred people gathered outside the SoHo apartment where his body was found. TV crews and residents were quickly joined by fans from around the city, including a trio of acting students from Brooklyn who took the subway over as soon as they learned of his death."It's sort of like James Dean died in this age," said Daniel Lonsbury, 18."Definitely, that's why we ran down after we heard about it," said John Payne, 20, who added that he feels like he grew up with Ledger. The acting students rattled off the various films Ledger has starred in, remarking at the incredible range he demonstrated in his short career."So many actors get stuck in one image," Payne said. "He wouldn't let that happen. It was kind of inspiring, just seeing him grow. And talk about risks -- 'Brokeback Mountain.' "As evening wore on, the crowd swelled as more and more people came to the scene, most twentysomethings. Fans climbed on scaffolding across the street from the building to get a better view, many of them holding up cellphone cameras to capture the spectacle.
About 6 p.m., an ambulance pulled up and the police began clearing the crowd away from the entrance to the building as they prepared to bring out Ledger's body. The apartment where Ledger was found is in a posh section of SoHo known for its sprawling, high-ceilinged lofts. A listing for a 4,400-square-foot unit in the building at 421 Broome St. is on the rental market for $23,000 a month, according to a listing on Corcoran.com, which describes the unit as "a perfect evolution in modern luxury living."Ledger was born to romance in Perth, in western Australia. His engineer father and French-teacher mother named him for the hero in Emily Bronte's classic "Wuthering Heights."He got his first acting role playing Peter Pan at age 10 at a local theater company. After several independent films, Ledger moved to Los Angeles at age 19 and costarred opposite Julia Stiles in "10 Things I Hate About You," a teen comedy reworking of "The Taming of the Shrew."
"People just love to bash L.A.," Ledger told NW Magazine in 2000, according to IMDB, an online data base."People say it's so pretentious, so arrogant, so this and that. But it's truly a wonderful place. You don't have to go to the places where that stuff goes on. You don't have to go to Beverly Hills, you don't have to go to the parties," he was quoted as saying."You can live up in the lower canyon and live such a perfectly healthy, beautiful, fun life with all your friends. You can drive two hours one way and be at the Joshua Tree desert, two hours one way you're skiing at Big Bear. Sure, it can get full-on and that's why it's good to get out. But it's too easy just to say: 'Nup, I hate it. I'm not living there anymore.' "

Dulce Pontes si G. Dalaras..once again

"Les Amants de Teruel", tells the sad story of the Spanish lovers Diego de Marcilla et d'Isabelle de Segua the likes of Tristan and Isolde or Romeo and Juliet.
The music has been written by Mikis Theodorakis as a soundtrack for the movie "Les Amants de Teruel" in 1962 , and Edith Piaf was the singer.
In a concert performance in 2005 Giorgos Dalaras and Dulce Pontes sang this song as a duet in a Greek-French version as "Omorphi Poli" (Beautiful City ), that was the original title for the song .
A Portuguese version as "Os Amantes " has been recently recorded by Dulce Pontes on her new album "O coraçao tem tres portas".

Les amants de Teruel
-------------------------------------

"This Norwegian girl with a guitar has a whiff of the coffeehouse about her, but it's a good coffeehouse. Her depressing songs are monumentally mordant (many are about breakups, one's about death), but she also flashes a sense of humor ("My friend, you left me in the end/ I can't believe I'm writing a song where friend rhymes with end") and really comes out of her shell on Song No. 6, a sweet, stomping duet with fellow melancholic Ron Sexsmith. Most compelling of all is her voice--a mix of Bjork's unpredictability and Joni Mitchell's directness that makes even the dourest material affecting."

Mie mi-a placut mult Spleen.

Hanif este nascut pe 5 decembrie (la fel ca omul pe care il iubesc eu azi si care are cam aceleasi pasiuni cu scriitorul:)) - playwright, screenwriter and filmmaker, novelist and short story writer. The themes of his work have touched on topics of race, nationalism, immigration, and sexuality.

In 2001 s-a ecranizat Intimacy:
Jay, a failed musician, walked out of his family and now earns a living as head bartender in a trendy London pub. Every Wednesday afternoon a woman comes to his house for graphic, almost wordless, sex. One day Jay follows her and finds out about the rest of her life (and that her name is Claire). This eventually disrupts their relationship. Written by Will Gilbert

The Postal Service

The Postal Service is an indie electro-pop band, which started life as a side project for singer Ben Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie and producer Jimmy Tamborello of Dntel, Headset and Figurine. Several songs on their first LP, Give Up, feature guest vocals from Jenny Lewis, the lead singer of Rilo Kiley, a band which was once on the same label as Death Cab (Barsuk Records) and vocals from Jen Wood, an indie rock solo artist. Chris Walla recorded some of the songs and played the piano on Nothing Better.

The way in which the group combines electronic backing tracks with poppy hooks is somewhat reminiscent of 1980s new wave music. The group formed, in 2001, after Gibbard contributed vocals for a song on Dntel's album Life Is Full of Possibilities called (This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan. This song sparked an EP of remixes by other artists, such as Lali Puna, The Flaming Lips, Safety Scissors, Barbara Morgenstern and Superpitcher and was so well received that the two artists decided that further collaboration was in order.

Its name comes from the manner in which their songs were written, due to the fact that the two of them lived too far away to be able to work together in person. Tamborello would create beats and mail them to singer and lyricist Gibbard, who would then edit them and put his melodies over the tracks and mail them back. Gibbard didn't write any of the lyrics until the tracks were completely finished.

Despite the fact that their main bands are still active, The Postal Service has supported its full-length album Give Up with a successful concert tour and has stated intentions to tour more in the future. The album's most notable single was Such Great Heights that has been featured in various television commercials, series, and movie trailers also remixed by John Tejada. The album also recently became the most successful album for the Sub Pop label since Nirvana's debut album Bleach.

The Postal Service more recently contributed a cover of Against All Odds to the soundtrack to the 2004 motion picture Wicker Park, and the band has worked on several remixes of other artists, including Do You Realize?? (Postal Service remix) (from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots) and Little Girl Blue (Postal Service Remix) (from Verve Remixed 3) and Mushaboom (Postal Service Remix). Gibbard doesn't sing on these remixes (except for Feist's Mushaboom), and it is likely that he has granted Jimmy Tamborello permission to work alone under the name The Postal Service.

At least two songs have been recorded as of June 2006 for the newest The Postal Service album.
